Yesterday was the second day of Hashnode Bootcamp.
I noticed our speaker Chris Bongers kept mentioning a certain tool. A tool that helps him write his articles and keep track of the topics that he may want to write in the future.
That tool is Notion .
WHAT IS NOTION
Notion according to Wikipedia is
an application that provides components such as notes, databases, kanban boards, wikis, calendars, and reminders. Users can connect these components to create their systems for knowledge management, note-taking, data management, project management, among others. These components and systems can be used individually, or in collaboration with others.
For me, it is an online planner, a calendar, a to-do list, a journal, a note-taking app, or whatever task, data, or note managing system that you want it to be.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
Well, it depends.
What do you want to use it for?
Notion has so many templates available to use from To-Do Lists to Journals, Calendars, Tables, etc. there are so many to choose from.
Chris uses I think, a table, with columns such as Name, Date, Status, Image, etc.
You can check his writing process here
I used a template called Content Calendar.
Here I jot my possible articles in Ideas, and once I start working on one I change its status to In progress.
MY EXPERIENCE
Well, I can't say much as I have been only able to use it for a few hours.
But for me, I find it useful, and usable.
There are some things that you need to explore to know how to use.
Not so hard that you have to google it, you just need to tinker around to know how it works.
An example would be the Type highlighted above.
It took me a good minute before I realized that you have to click the word empty to bring down the Type list. 🤦♂️
CONCLUSION
I think Notion has a big potential as a productivity booster tool. Not just for Development or Writing but even with our day-to-day tasks.
It has so many templates capable of keeping track of your tasks and goals and probably has more functions than I have yet to discover.
Oh did I mention that Notion is also free for personal use?
So go on give it a try!
And if you do, or maybe you're already using it, go and leave me a comment on how you use it and what you use it for.
If you have a tool you use that helps with your productivity, don't be afraid to share it with us.
Till then catch you guys later!
Big shoutout once again to Chris Bongers for pointing me to Notion.
Thank you Hashnode for the free Bootcamp.
Thank you to our Host Sam Sycamore for being there to help and encourage us on our tasks
